Blog Post # 3

Today I added 2 new videos one is a guy explaining how math and letters are connected. They gain knowledge from everything and that helps to gain knowledge of the world around us. It's interesting and relates because it shows that everything can be explain whith numbers then interpreted into letters for us to understand, the first mintue or so is the good part. The second video is what you don't want to do when explaining how to help the world gain knowledge to a large group of people.

Blog Post # 1

For my class I had to pick 2 chapters that interested me the most, I chose The Knowledge of the World Around Us & Why Should We Be Moral.

I chose Why Should We Be Moral? because of it's connections to religion and KOTWAU. I come from a pretty religious family and went to a catholic school from day-care to 8th Grade, so I know they are directly connected. Morality comes from religion, how you act reflects your beliefs. If you are very religious you're going to know whats right and wrong and live a "clean" lifestyle. Meaning, no cursing & going to church regularly for example. You believe your actions here lead to a place up there or down there. If you live how you're God has taught you then you will go to heaven, if you don't you'll go to hell or wherever you believe you'll go. I'm Catholic and personally we aren't looking too hot in the morality scoreboard, we speak out against gay marriage while Catholic Priests are touching little boys, we've got enough problems of our own, don't need to be getting into everyone else's issues just yet. I hope by reading this chapter it will show me other religious morals and hopefully strengthen my beliefs cause right now they're not too good.

I also chose Knowledge of the world around us. I chose this becasue the world is a big place, how do we know so much about it? How did we learn so much about it, this also reflects religon because how you view whats around you can be understood through the teaches of your God or higher power. What ideas cause us to be the way we are, is it the almight dollar. Money makes the world go round so I guess the richer you are the more knowledgeable you are. So if money teaches us what have we learned. What I mean is you have to spend to get, wehter that be a private school education or a self-find journey like Christopher McCandless (Into the Wild) went on to Alaska. He felt that the only way to gain knowledge was to leave, I won't go that far but taking this class should help me find where I'm going.

Was Socrates Wise? He Didn't Think He Was!

The reason for Socrates describing himself as “wise because he realized how ignorant he is” is because he knew so much about the world around him, from his perspective. He did not know the world around him from someone else point of view. He felt to answer all the questions you had to know all the questions. This is related to Philosophy because the way he wanted to live his life the way everyone lived their lives, take a good aspect from each to really understand and know how to live your life.
Socrates’ reason for drinking the Hemlock is simple, to show his belief in his cause. He believed that the Democratic views of the Athenian government were wrong in their beliefs in the gods. There may be a few things I’m willing to die for but not too much, my views on religion are pretty well rooted in my family so I would never give that up. All the others aren’t as important. Also any type of abuse is just wrong so I would fight against that maybe not by giving my life though.

First Post

This is my first post for my philosophy class. Philosophy is your beliefs in how your life should be lived. It also is your feelings on how the world should be if you have a peaceful philosophy you try to spread the love. If you suck you make everything else suck. You want to make other people fell as bad as you. It is the style of your outlook on life.
